Ok, so I decided today would be the day to clean my fans, etc. only that I was dumb about it. so I first go to the processor, i remove the heatsink (i think that the big silver thing is it) and the fan. then i put it bak on and turn it on, and it makes louder noises then way before. do i need the liquid? heres what it looks like, any problems? (I've touched the silver part if its relevant).
Processor with grey stuff (wierd). silver thing with the same grey stuff. (I believe its the paste that further kools down the system). silver thing properly placed back ontp of the processor. fan ontop of the silver thing. any problems? plese let me know how much it would cost to. Thank you!!! do i need new thermal cream? is that why it would be going soooo loud? Last edited by akzes; 01-04-2009 at 08:31 AM.. Reason: pictures weren't working |

wow big pictures
. Don't know about the noise but you should use new thermal glue whenever you take of the heat sink from the processor. A tube of that is like 6$

yep definitely apply more thermal glue/paste. Hmm fan noise... double-check you have secured the fans back properly as loose fans can cause noise, also make sure you didn't "clean" some dirt/dust into the fan blades. Air Dusters are the best thing to use if you didn't use one already...
