Windows Firewall turned off?
I have a PC with the latest version of XP. Every time I turn it on, about two minutes after bootup I get the message that windows firewall was turned off (which it hasn't been) and it goes away after a second or two, before I even have time to click the icon.
At first I thought spyware, so I ran ad-aware and spybot and both turned up nothing. Next I tried EasyCleaner to clean a possible registry error and that didn't work either! I've also tried turning off and on the firewall. The problem with this error message is that I'm pretty sure it's dramatically slowing the boot of my machine (as all windows security processes seem to do.) So, I've tried lots of stuff, any ideas?
