I'll probably be updating as long as all the proprietary software that came with my laptop works (like Fingerprint Scanner, CineDash console, Intel storage manager). As long as those all work, It'll be worth it.

I will be upgrading to windows 7, just by seeing the speed benchmark between XP, Vista, and windows 7.

Another reason I remembered to upgrade: Uninstall Internet Explorer. I cannot wait. Everytime I don't connect when it opens, it defaults to "Work Offline" and I have to remember to go set it back or nothing will connect. What a worthless feature.

lol its so ironic how a small typo can change up the meaning of a sentence...
anyways apart from that I've been hearing a lot of good things about windows 7 I havent tried it myself because I have a 3 year old crappy dell dimension and I dont think it will survive an OS transplant XD |

i've read some reviews, and they're dubbing it as "the redeemer" of windows. i am interested enough to try it out, but what am really looking forward to is the new google wave.

Would have very big applications on the ChromeOS (or GoogleOS, whatever its called) allowing for management of lots of things like E-mail, browsing, even looks like some games without installing on your system.

They are. Aside from "Android", their making a GoogleOS, which I think is mostly run from Chrome.

It's faster for a start. Noticeably faster on bootup without the annoying little mini crash Vista does on me for 1min when it first loads and i click firefox. It hasn't BSOD'd on me yet whereas Vista does it like twice a month. It looks nicer and the graphics don't eat up as much processor/memory usage as Vista. When it installed it only took like 30 mins and picked up all my drivers except the gfx card, which was to be expected since i have a HD4870. Fortunately it picked up my onboard so i just had to use that 5 mins. Vista btw didn't pick up a couple of drivers when i installed that. Also majority of software i have used works great on it. I do dislike the new paint though since they made it look like Word 2007 and thats ugly.

Sounds pretty impressive, well as for now Vista has been treating me good, until I notice some sudden changes I'll have this has a backup plan. Thanks for sharing.

I had Windows 7 Ultimate very shortly as a duel-boot on my laptop. I'm not upgrading my Vista installation yet because:
1. It isn't even out yet (officially) 2. With that, means any bugs found have NOT been fixed yet, or specifically any bugfixes. 3. My teachers do not recommend it as it hasn't been tested with the applications we use Though it may seem very safe now, there are many flaws and bugs that can compromise the system. One of my teachers demonstrated hacking it with an extra PC he had. Took him 5 minutes to get into it, full access. Of course hes been in IT for about 30 years (yup, hes used punch cards), so I give him some credit when he tells us what software is safe and even demos is. Anyone who really wants to try Windows 7, I recommend getting Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 or VMWare instead of installing it directly on your system.
