I've just bought some new bits and pieces for my comp because, although i have upgraded peripherals and a few components over the years, the base system seems a little bit old now.
What I have done is just ordered new Processor, RAM, and Motherboard. I'm gona keep evrything else thats in there (this is a bit of a budget upgrade, but it should have the desired effect of speeding things up a bit).
My question is: When i install the new parts i will be keeping the old hard discs so will i need to update anything on them other than the chipset drivers in order for it all to run smoothly? Or would you recomend a nice fresh windows install?
I just dont know how much motherboard-dependant..stuff...is actually stored on the HDD...also im going for a whole different RAM architecture (DDR rather than RDRAM), might i need to change something on the HDDs because of this?
Thanks for your help!
p.s can anyone tell me why RDRAM is so INCREDIBLY expensive?! i thought it was oooooollllllllddddd?!
