I'm using azureus and its telling me I have a network address translation problem, and that would be about all I know about this situation, I'm guessing I need to be alot more specific to get real help, but if anyone could point me in the right direction or, tell me what the usual causes are for such a situation, it would be greatly appreciated.

it could be LEGAL material that he is downloading! like linux, open source software, free games. thats actually the real reason Bittorrent was born, to easily distribute open source linux across the net, not necessarily illegal material. Therefore, torrents don't kill people, people kill torrents. Last edited by andresilich; 10-05-2005 at 05:50 PM.. |

back on thr subject, just go into your browser and punch in 192.168.1.1, in there just look for anything that resembles anything close to "Port range" or "port forwarding", there just punch in the port that Azureus uses, i think is 6881, then just press ok, and voila, i guess.

For being the kingofnoobs your pretty quick to judge, do you think programs like kazaa, limewire, bittorrent would be legal if there was no legal way to use them..?
and If you gotta know what I was downloading I was downloading the call of duty 2 demo... I'm not saying I have never violated digital copyright laws, but it would be sort of stupid to ask about azureus on a web site strictly against piracy if I was downloading something illegal. Anyway thanks sovietslayer for giving me an idea of what to do, and thanks andresilich for making it clear, now I have a very good idea of what you are talking about, and yes azureus does use port 6881; However the starting port and ending port would not both be 6881?... right? |

You can use just about any port you desire. Torrents generally use port 6881-6889. Be aware that some trackers and clients have actually blocked those ports, so you might have to set it at something higher or lower.
