i have built a few media center 2005's there pretty cool but really need a lot of graphics power pci-e recomended agpx8 isnt that good for it, 1024mb ram ddr 400 or ddr2 533+ (remote control , mce tv card) if you get 2 hauppage mce 150 you can record and watch another channel at the same time i would recommend big p4 chip seen a 2.8 celeron running mce 2005 was kinda like running a 8 ton truck with a motorbike engine lol

Well, in my opinion wrong.

There is nothing wrong with agp8x, and countless benchmarks have shown that agp is still a perfectly capable platform. There is no denying that pci-e is faster than agp, but any decent agp system can run mce 2005.

1024 MB of RAM i agree wholeheartedly.

Yes Pentium 4 procs are faster than celerons, but saying a celeron runs like a 8 ton truck with a motorbike engine...no. Celerons are more than capable of running MCE2005 at more than acceptable speeds.

No, no you can't just buy Windows Media Center Edition. It comes pre-installed on new hardware ONLY. Just like you can't just buy Windows Storage Server either.
I know. I'm an official Microsoft Software - Enterprise Licensing Agent for a large "company". There's absolutely no individual pricing on it, it's not "offered" on a CD/DVD anywhere. At least, not legally. Buy one off eBay and see if MS doesn't come knocking with a summons.
If I can't get it legally then you for-damn-sure can't get it legally.
And they send me new stuff all the frickin' time.

p.s. Those newegg sales are ILLEGAL in every sense of the word. You CANNOT resell OEM-supplied operating system install CDs.
