Pentium is dropping the intel name, they are going strictly by numbers, it's not that hard to find out, I have an 8somthingsomthing, They do plan to come up with another name eventually, I think they did this because of all the flak it's been getting as of recent from it's high power consumption, and it's heat issues.

Any guesses on the names when they upgrade all their proc's to 60nm processes?

Linkie

So let's try to break the habit now! (Doubt it will happen anytime soon)

Who uses Intels anymore anyway? :P

I don't blame them though, it's about time they threw that crappy old brand out. They used it as a play on the word "penta", five, for the P5 ("586") architecture; it's not a very appropriate name for today's CPUs.
But then again, brands were never about being appropriate.

I was surprised when the "Pentium II" showed up, and thought "shouldn't it be called the Hexium?" :P

intel sucks. I built my own pc during the summer last year and I didn't do any research on cpus and just bought a 530j by intel. Of course, it is a nice processor, but like you said, it overheats. And I do a bit of online gaming on my pc and it sucks. I should of stuck with amd. but I learned something and my next pc will be the best cost efficient system you can buy.

keep in mind my current fan runs loud and my system goes as high as 68 C when gaming. while that is alright for a 530j, I hate the noise as the fan speeds up.

BS! I Just bought an intel 651, it's a 3.4ghz proc, 2mb L2 Cache, 800mhz fsb. It Is also on the new 65nm process, which means much less heat and electricity. I have it overclocked to 3.8 with a beastly fan (it's a noname brand but it's quiet and fast), and my temp never goes over 60 C, and that's during a game or rendering.

well you have an improved cpu anyway. I got a 530j which has the specs but intel didn't do a great job with heat. and everyone knows it too. I should have stuck with amd with their actual 64-bit cpus. by the way, mine is 90nm
