Default Running old games on xp?

Latly I've had an urge to run some really old games that I liked when
I was younger, but it seems like these doesnt run so well on xp?

Sometimes, if I hold enter for about a minute, it works, why?
I tried the same games on a windows 98 and they all run well there.
Is there someway I can make these work?

If you want to run old dos games you can give dosbox a try. It is basically an emulator for ms dos for windows XP.

There's a thing on windows xp called games compatabilty wizard (Or something like that). It allows you to run games that required windows 95 or later to run. The games usually run too fast to play, and if they do, run some other program in the background to use up system resources. Hope this helps
