Default New computer help

So i just got a new comp, finally, and i'm having a couple of troubles with it/

1) The comp came with like 100 interent games installed on it, taking up at least 200 mb of space. Is there any way to mass-delete all of these, or do i have to select them and uninstall them one at a time?

2) There's this program that looks kind of like a ripper but i'm not sure if it is. It's called "Sonic" and the sub categories under it are; "Digital Media Home", "Express laboler" and "mydvd plus". What is it exactly?

1) 200mb is nothing. But if your that concerned about it then I would say your probably going to have to remove them one at a time.

2)http://www.sonic.com/
it's basically a dvd burner type of thing. its a rival to nero. if you have nero then you can remove sonic as nero pwns the hell out if it.

I have a question for you tho. What are the specs of the PC? Such as processor speed, memory (RAM) and hard drive space. You seem to be worrying about nothing at all. If its a new computer then I would say the things it has on it will make little or no difference to the performance. Its only when you start to fill the hard drive or try playing a game like oblivion that the little differences will be noticeable. But for now don't worry.

Wow. With specs like that i wouldnt be at all worried about what its got on it. unless you have nero to install then leave sonic. And if its got mcaffee virus software then get rid of it and put norton on or there are plenty of free alternatives. Such as zone alarm and avg.

I picked up the same computer recently and it rocks.

Then...........I went crazy on it.

Mine had 250gigs.....now it has 450.
I threw out the 300 watt power supply and upped it to 550.
Another gig of Ram.......it was a ***** to get in.
Video card? I got the ATI x1900xtx.
Sound card? Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi 64 mb

Now it's the Terminator -

To answer your question.......go to the control panel and then to add/remove programs.

Find something that says "HP Games" or something like that.

Delete it and it will delete all of the games that take up 5mb each. I just did it last night.

If you know anything about IT at all you'll know not to use Norton as your Anti-virus. Use AVG Free edition or Avast! Home edition. Both of them are far better than Norton (I know from personal experiences).

Even Windows virus protection is better....for free. Norton messes up so much it's not even funny.

If I know anything about IT. hmmm well I am an IT systems analyst and I like to use a decent piece of software opposed to a free piece of software. Norton is perfect. I use norton not just for Antivirus its also spyware, firewall, ad blocker. I could get free alternatives but having them all in one suits me much better.

You equate quality with the amount you have to pay for it? In a majority of cases free software is actually better.
A person who is coding something that is free will put extra effort into it. Why? Well because they know they wont get anything in return, so whats the point on wasting your time on something that you know wont be good.
With paid companies, the employees know they are going to get paid in the end, there isn't that same motivation. That's not to say employees are lazy though.

And thats exactly the reason that I didn't pay for norton. As i said before I prefer eveything to be in one package. It's my personal preference and no one can change that.

I forgot to say, that I mean that about the home edition of Norton. The corporate edition is actually pretty good, but it's hard to get a copy of it without having to pay lots.

Well the one I got is Norton Internet Security 2006. I don't pay for software as I either get it from work or I torrent it.

I'm not sure about the differences between corporate and home editions of norton but often corporate is identical to home but just comes with more licenses and can be used on more than one PC. eg. my version of windows 2000 is a corporate edition and didnt need a CD key to be entered. It can be installed on as many PCs as I like. Kinda pointless now tho as I use XP Pro not 2000.
