Just from that you prob. want to be running Windows. But you can do that with a mac type pc or an ibm based pc. Now the rest all depends on the specs of the pc.

linux is prob. the worst OS for everyday use. The comptibility with apps with pretty low. Also its kinda hard for most ppl to install on their first try and def. harder to use or mac or windows. Linux isnt go GUI freindly like the other OS's. I would go with a mac over linux.

Im tired of viruses and all that crap but switching over to a new OS might be a bit difficult. The last time I frequently used a Mac OS was in the mid 90's...

Does AMD put chips into Macs?

No only Intel. Also with Vista coming outs it big change. Its not like going from Win98-WinXp were just the GUI colors are a big diff. and some new features. Also how do you guys get a lot of virsus. I almost never get virsus and even then their easy to delete.

MacBook Pro comes with Intel Duo which is good for multitasking, a PC can also have a dual core processor, so it's up to you.
Photoshop is availible for both PC and Mac, again it's up to you.
Speed is dependant on specs and what you run on your PC/Mac, in my experience there isn't that much of a difference that is worth complaining about.
With bootcamp, Macs can have all of Windows programs as well as Mac programs. Mac programs are very good too, theres a nice list here http://www.applepedia.com/Software_Gold

Slightly offtopic: Does anyone know anything about the MacBook (not pro) 12"? Some rumors are saying it will be announced on Tuesday but there's a lot of conflicting information.

if you want games, a PC is better though, so get a MacBookPro (laptop) or the intel iMac and use BootCamp to run windows to play games.

I hear Dual core is awesome, and I read a computer shopper article and studied the range of Intel and AMD dual core chips and AMD came out on top.

Downloading porn tends to give me viruses all the time. I use it for historical values and for reference... to the human anatomy...

All in all malware is probably the bigger pest than viurses though

I'm tired of seeing that defense for the Mac 'oh you can't get viruses'
How many people using PCs actually get virsuses from the internet? Does everyone open .exe attachments from penis enlargment emails?

YES.

Chances are I get most of my viruses from music downloading. I dont always look throughly at the format, just the name and think its good.

The only prob. i see is if you want a macbook pro(laptop) is the price is horrible. 2g gets you a pc that has only 512mb of ram and a 5400 rpm hdd.

I dont understand how ppl get virsus as well. I may get 1 virsus a month and that one will be easily deleted.

Thats only base price. Its the mac mini with the worse spec and you need to add at least another 800 for the moniter and 78 for a keyboard/mouse. Plus 1.66 ghz is pretty low and 80gb is small if your plan on dloading a lot of vids and songs.

Right now i have an AMD 64 2.00 Ghz and i would never go to down to 1.66ghz. Plus apparently AMD cpus run better then intel cpus. Also 512MB ram is also kinda bad. I have that right now and i will upgrade to at least 1gb sometime soon. The hdd is to slow for me at 54,000 rpm. I wouldnt get a hdd without at least 7200 RPM. And the specs i would choose arre just for everyday use. I'm not a pc gamer.

but it not a duo core it just a 64 bit and duo core is better than a 64 bit

and think about it like this dont anti virus and firewalls and spyware cleaners take quite a bit of ram and cpu to use and also slows down your internet to scan and crap

mac definately, with reflex vision that can easily change teh screen, http://www.apple.com/macpro/ and with this, it will obviously be fast, you can have bootcamp on it, and that will give you the abilty to run windows programs on the mac, and you'll be able to choose to download and play games on the computer between windows and mac
