Default MY sound card wont work

Hello ppl.... for some reason my sound card has stopped working, it has everything in place, it is not a new one that i bought, but one that came with my old win 98 computer

Check in the Device Manager if the driver is still OK.

Also, check the volume, double click the icon, make sure that nothing is muted.

Make sure it's plugged into your motherboard.

Make sure your speakers are plugged in and on.
Hardrive is offline

I dont even think my computer detects my sound card, because when i go in to multimedia it doesnt say anything, and the sound icon in the bottom left does not even show, how can i check if it connected to my motherboard, i know for sure that it is connected to the thiny...what do you call it...umm those things that look like the PCI

are u stil on window 98 or u upgraded to xp?

Change the PCI slot and install the drivers.

If it was already working before, then why would he need to install the drivers?

Also, the sound card might have just simply died, and if so there is no hope. I'd recommend saving up for a new PC...

Well it happen to me when i upgraded to window xp . My pc wouldnt detect my sound card too and i tryed what Tave did. SO then i install the driver from the net n voila it works..
