Angry False Advertising?

I bought an ext. hd for my pc which clearly stated on the box that it was 250 gb yet when I formatted it, there was only 232gb of space. Shouldn't it be a 232gb
hd and say that on the box? I mean, if I sold a box of screws that claimed to have 250 in it and every box that I sold only had 232 wouldn't that be lying?

no... in stores 1 Gig is meaures 1 gig = 1000 megs, when in computer terms its 1 gig = 1024, so when you have 250 gigs you lose space..

thats bs, why can't they just use the cpu terms on the box then. I'm still pissed, who made up the rule that a store can make up how big they want a Gig to be?
That's like saying a car co. can make up how long a mile is to make it seem like their car's top speed is faster than it really is.

Read the box in future, it will be all there in black and white, I'm surprised this is the first time you've encountered this.
