Of those two id say mac overall, XP is an exception but until that windows was crap.
Mac OS has always been good.

Compatibility has nothing todo with the OS.

XP beats any MAC OS though, and linux owns them all...
pre-XP windows was terrible though.

Anything is better then Linux for everyday use.
Windows ME is the crappiest Windows OS.
98 is actully a good OS.

I prefer windows simply because I think there is a wider amount of software availible for it. Being an audiophile I love Foobar for all my music, I can't get that to run on OSX.
To be honest that's all I can think of, I can get VLC player to work on both OSX and Windows XP so my movie needs can be handled on both, PC games can be run on Windows too but not so much OSX.
I like Windows more because it suits my needs more, but it is not the best operating system. It may sound a bit contradictory. I think if Apple made Windows, it would be better...if that makes any sense.

I guess I was trying to say, combine apples design and stability with Windows compatibility then you would have a great OS, which is why MacBooks/pro are so sweet

I have both OSX and XP on my PC, so lack of gaming isn't a problem... That is pretty much all I use XP for.

The only problem I find with OSX is that it requires Apple's expensive hardware (which sucks).

But just OS to OS, OSX, in my mind, blows XP out of the water.
