It would depend on what type of application you'll be doing.

Will stick with Intel for Encoding/Office works.
AMD for Games only.

For FTP servers, and File Servers, etc, none from the above.

It helps if people research things before making purchases.

Single Core Intel beats the crap out of AMD in terms of audio/video related things.

However AMD single core is better than Intel for games.

When it comes to dual core, AMD tends to perform better if you go for their top line of processors.

Finally, AMD dual core is still better than Intel for gaming

It's not the chip, it's the OS that runs on it.
I can have an eleventy-billion Ghz CPU, but if the OS is crappily coded, then it's going to run as SLOW as an 'old' Pentium 4.

I've currently got an Intel P4 2.4 Ghz, but I'm soon upgrading to an AMD Athlon 3800+ X2. Does that answer your question?
