I have a Windows XP PC with a wireless connection and a 56k modem. Is there any way I could hook this up to get internet on my mac with a 28k modem?

Yyyyyyyyes, actually. I... can't remember how. It involves setting your wireless card up for an ad-hoc connection, giving it whatever SSID you want.
I did something similar when I lived in an apartment a year ago. I had a cable connection, and I set my PC up as a wireless access point through ad-hoc and ICS. Obviously, you'll need to share your 28.8 internet connection to your wireless card, so it can give out IPs and such. Dunno about the specifics anymore... it's been a while, like I said.
