Default Quick Poll: ATi : nVidia : Other

I'm personally a hardcore fan of ATi, always have been, probably always will be.

But there are other good manufacturers, such as Matrox, S3, et cetera.

I'm interested in what everyone else prefers.

With high end cards I tend to go with ATI, the X1900XT will beat the crap out of Nvidia cards in the same price range.
For mid range cards I prefer Nvidia, the 7600GT is probably the most cost efficient card on the market that can run Obilivion really well.

I'll buy which ever card offers the best performance for my price range. Brand loyalty is only ever going to leave me short changed.

I would have to say ATi. Their cards outperform their nVidia equivalent in almost all cases.

http://tomshardware.co.uk/2006/05/15...2006_part3_uk/

Tomshardware have good analysis and recently did a graphics card buyers guide. Their methodology seems to be valid and the benchmarks show consistent results. At the high end ATI will outperfom Nvidia, but only slightly. ATI cards also are noisier at the high end.
Mid range you have 7600GT from Nvidia and the X1800 GTO from ATI. Nvidia's card is both cheaper, quieter and performs the same.

As brain_stew said, brand loyalty sucks. Look at the charts and match your budget to the cards, then you can make an informed choice on what's best for you.
