Default Ripped songs

Ok,
I ripped some albums the other day. The play perfectly on this computer.
However, this computer only has usb 1.1, or 2.0 sometimes, when it feels like it, plus it has a smaller HDD. That's why I wanted to change where they were stored.
So transfered each music file I ripped to my laptop via file sharing. It took a while, but it did it eventually.
Now, these files will not play on the laptop. They are different artist albums, and each song of the album, so they have not been corrupted. I transfered many more songs, and the play fine.
I noticed that in WMP settings, it says protect ripped music or something similar. I took this to mean I couldn't copy it anywhere else.
However, when I look at the liscence of one of the songs, it states that the file can be backed up and copied and unlimited amount of times.

So, is there a way to take off the protection on the laptop, or will I have to re-rip them again?

You'll most liekly have to re-rip them. The protection is put on the file that you make, not on the PC. The files won't let you play them without a license. Re-ripping them is what I'd do, although someone clever might be able to find a way around it.

re-rip them...

if you're ripping them with Windows Media Player, make sure to change the ripped format to mp3. that way, the ripped files won't be infested with all the drmed crap

it should work for you if it says it allows it to be backed up, etc. but DRM's funny like that. Anyway, you could create a licence from the PC you ripped it on and then use it on the laptop, although how you do that Im not sure. If you do re-rip the music, do what the pope said and change the format that the files are ripped to, to mp3. That way there wont be any DRM.

You can also just untick the box that says to add copy protection to music.
