Well, now you enter into the grey world of 'legality'.
Recently there HAVE been court cases where people actually SUED companies for not having a warning banner when they logon or any type of written policy concerning monitoring. "reasonable expectation of privacy" or something like that. So just have a warning banner and have everyone that uses your computer sign a computer user agreement (CUA) and you're covered.
Plus you scare the hell out of them.

Okay, I'll tell you why. Some dudes dad blocked him out of gamefaqs, and his dad doesn't know how to setup specific sites to go to and not to be able to go to.

Yeah, his dad barely knows anything about computers. I don't live to close to him so I couldn't help him out in person. So that's why I'm doing this. I had some of these programs a while back but I deleted them.

I hate it when the dude who can't find homerole has leadership of the computer AKA parent.

unless he set up a network filter, you could download an alternate browser to get around it (he most likely blocked GameFaqs from ie's tools). but i dont know what he did.

HOSTS file is the best way....and if it's on an XP machine, make sure the kid doesn't have Admin privs and he'll never be able to change it.

He could probably download a different browser like the far better mozilla but..............I just wish I could have a more hands on experience with his computer.

I'm pretty sure it isn't hosts files because I just got him to do it over webcam because his computer is set up a lot different from mine. The hosts file wasn't blocking anything.

The dad having a keylogger is pointless. The kid could just copy and paste text so it wouldn't be typed. Then again, I once used a keylogger that took a screenshot every minute...

Well, you see, it's not that I didn't read it. They just can't understand any of it hardly. They're kind of computer noobs in general. So that's why I'm telling him to download Firefox for now. Judging from how experienced this dudes dad is with computers I would expect it's just a browser security lock, so.......Mozilla for now homie. I wouldn't use Internet Explorer anyway.

He could also use a proxy. And AFAIK, IE doesn't have any in built blocking stuff. Microsoft must have an agreement with all the companies that make that stuff...

The kid wanted to learn his dads password cause his dad doesn't realise how illiterate his self is with computers. I'm giving up on helping him for now. Have any of you tryed to help family with a computer ONLINE and that family has had no prior computer experience. Well, they have some, but it's very basic.

Buy some books and start READING.

Yeah, the problem is I have no idea what the dad used to block the stuff, and I'm sure the dad's not sure either. No way I could figure it out if they don't know half of what I'm talking about online. I need to be setting right there in front of the computer seeing what they have setup.

Sorry if I had grammar errors. I got used to typing on yahoo realy fast just to see what he was doing on his computer.
