Default Somthings wrong with my keyboard :/

ok my computer is around 6 years old now, and still has the keyboard screen and everything else other than some ram and a new HDD and network card,

as of about 2 days ago my keyboard just stoped working, it has power but will not send or collect input, its caps, num & scroll lock lights flash every 4th of a second.

now this doesnt happen all the time, some times the keyboard works fine, and always works fine when used on other computers, but not with mine.
it seems to switch between these not working and working modes every few hours for no good reson, like it stops working when im scripting, changing the name of a file, posting in a forum, basic typing stuff, and it just dies, random no?

if i leave it alone for a few hours it will come back to life and start working just like, it contines to work untill it stops again for no reson.

now, im sure its a computer problem becuase it only ****s up on my computer,
im also sure its not a HDD problem because i had my brother take it to tech and wipe the thing clean, then he installed windows xp off a disk someone lent him (different to the one i used about a year ago to install windows, so its not a windows problem),
i even tryed linux, still doesnt respond.

i have gone and got a cheap USB keyboard, put on a USB to PS/2 thing on the end and pluged it into the same hole the not working keyboards in, it works fine 24/7.

so the problem i think is in my computer (but not HDD/software) when its using that keyboard,

im confused as hell.

It could be the connection in the old keyboard.
