Default Some help with filesize problem

Okay, i think I *may* have a fat problem. A file that is around 700 bytes, becomes 4 KB. Larger files also have this problem. Im probably losing large megabytes over this. AND ITS ANNOYING. Is there a way to fix this?

No, No, No. The way file systems work is that they handle the partitions in blocks. Instead of handling each bit of data, they look at it in chunks, generally 4kb, although it can go higher. When a file is created of 0 bytes, it still takes up a chunk, taking up the space regardless. If it is larger than the chunk size, it takes up more.

It can be suggested that it does cause a loss of space, but it is made up by the speed of file access. It'd take a lot longer in accessing the data if the computer had to track each bit individually.

There is nothing wrong with your computer / file system.
