Wait a few more days (week at most) for Conroe to come out. You dont need dual processors to get a good gaming rig. Save some more money and put it back into a bigger hard drive and a better video card and motherboard. You can build a much better system doing it yourself.

Building a PC isn't hard at all. The only real way you can mess things up is by forcing things into holes where they don't fit, and even then it requires a lot of force. The manuals are really helpful and many people here, including me, can help you pick out parts and make sure they are compatible.
AMD have cut their dual cores by 50% just recently, so you can get those if you are on a budget and get a better graphics card. While that's not exactly ideal for future proofing, if you are willing to spend less money now and more later then this is ideal. The processor doesn't really limit any of todays games.
