and btw, do i really need both?

right now, i have McAfee with a firewall and a viruscan (which i find working perfectly)

Why do you only need one? Is hard drive space that limited?
Spybot Search and Destroy + Adaware covers the entire spectrum of spyware + adware.
Or you could just run a HijackThis scan and manually look for and remove stuff.

I use Adaware personal without any problems. Usually brings things up.
