Default online router problem

So I have a speadstream, and I have xbox live, but only one problem, whenever I want to play xbox live, I have to unhook a cord in my modem and switch it, making my internet useless to my other family members who want to use the internet, so what should I do, I have already bought a linksys 4 port thing, but it didnt work at all. So I got a netgaer 4 port ethernet hub, and it didnt work either. So my question, what can I get to share my internet properlly with xbox live and my computer?

you need a router, which you said didnt work 2 times, my guess is you installed it wrong, most likely the problem, and its the only solution

I would suggest a belkin router, it was the easiest for me to set up, but we have a netgear one right now that is superb, super wireless g

you just gotta sit down with it and work on it for however long it takes, that was the case for me with our netgear router, if all fails call customer support
