Imagine Sony releasing an Operating System

Apple have got it (Mac)
Microsoft have got it (Windows)

Sony should have their own OS imagine what it would like like :P

They don't have the proper mindset for it.
Besides, that would involve them going up against Microsoft's main cash pony and THAT no company wants to do.
Apple gets away with it because the OS is setup for sale/distribution on their own hardware.

If anyone has used SonicStage then they would know that a Sony OS would be unusable.
It might be in the interests of Sony anyway, they can include the rootkits on the installation CDs instead of going through the hassle of putting them on music CDs.

Sony are a horrid software company, its the one thing that lets their great hardware down. Considering the amount of extra buggy bloat found on the average Vaio computer I'd shudder to think how bad it would be if they were allowed to create their own OS.

Yea sonicstage sucks. This would also be like asking microsoft for good protection on windows :[ never gonna happen. IMO at least.

If $ony did, it would be like the Vaio laptops and spy on your every movement and prevent you from playing mp3's or installing Limewire.....

And it would just be a bloated XMB.....

On-topic: I think it would be O.K, there might be issues with security though

Do you really think Sony will make things easy for pirates? I just use it for conversion, and that's what it's ment for.

It's not that Sonicstage is hard to use, it's just that it's broken... It never works on any machine I install it on...

What OS are you using? I'm using Windows XP (Ubuntu wouldn't install)
and I have it fully updated.

Windows XP...

It runs very slowly, if at all... And my Machine has 2 GB of Ram, and a 2.3Ghz AMD processor, so it's not a proformance issue...

i wondor what the cost of it would be, like a cheap system or would they make the box look pretty and sell it really high .. ild never buy one though, between mac and vista,, im quite happy

XMBs are pointless if you have a mouse. The only reason we have XMBs on the PSP and PS3 is because using the analogue stick is inprecise compared to a mouse.
It is much faster to click icons, its even faster for me to use somethink like Quicksilver on a Mac.
