Default Firefox to Internet Explorer Market Share Statistics

Well, I am sure this site has been posted before but, Firefox is gaining on Internet Explorer. Alot. Infact, alot of the people at my school use Firefox and thats really odd seen as their all n00bs.

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

I am predicting that in 2 years time Firefox will have 40% or over market share. Anyone wanna take that bet?

Big whoop!

No, Firefox will never have 40% market share...As much as you and I use it and like it, there is a huge population of people who just want to get it "working". For most of the people, the "Big E icon" is the "Internet". They don't/cannot differentiate between a browser and an internet connection.

They do know that Internet Explorer is very insecure. But their ignorance and lethargy keeps them bound to it. I can probably name a few kids here who's parents don't want them installing any applications. How do you beat that attitude?

Not only that, but a large part of corporate websites are created with Internet Explorer in mind. And by that, I don't mean the sites which are online, I mean the local intranet sites- those which run the backend of the companies. Heck, I myself have been through these sites and as much as I would have wanted to use Firefox, I couldn't, for the simple reason that their code wouldn't run on them.

Internet Explorer might be the ****tiest, buggiest, slowest browser on the planet. But people will still use it. Heck, Microsoft's attitude lately actually tells me that IE7 will claw back a lot of that market-share. Would I bet on it? Heck no. But if you're saying that in 2 years, Firefox will have over 40% market share, that's just coming from someone who jerks off looking at the Firefox icon.

Kind of a wierd statement at the end but, people are beginning to realise the pathetic code behind IE and how buggy it is. If MS get their act together then maybe they will regain that market share but I doubt it. And about parents and there phobia of any other programs that aren't pre-installed, you are right. You can't beat that attitude. My mum is exactly the same, except I have my own computer

Oh, but wait a minute, my mum uses Firefox and would never use IE in a million years and she is a total computer n00b. So thats Firefox's superior coding at work.

Exactly why I swap around the icons on people's computers. Most people don't know the difference, and I'm hoping for an Internet Explorer theme to increase the reality.

Yeh, my dad just gets rid of IE on any computers he fixes and tells them to use Firefox from now on. People just do whatever the experts tell them to

IE is big. FF is clever. Doesn't change the fact that IE is winning :-\
