Default My mouse isn't working

Well I was just using my mouse and all of a sudden it didnt work. I turned my cp off unplugged mouse and put it back in turned my cp on again and then it worked. Then after 30 minutes it happen again abd it was off and on. Now it just doesnt work at all. Do I need a new mouse? I really didn't do anything to this mouse though.

What type of mouse is it?
Do you have any actual mice in you house? They may have chewed the cable (happened to me).

It's either the mouse or the PC has some sort of lagging that lags the mouse.

Gateway mice suck so I don't think that would help much.

I have a gateway and my mouse stopped working too. I used the ball mouse as well. So I got a new mouse and it works fine now. The new one I have is laser or whatever with the red light under the bottom.

Hmm, thanks alot guys. Ill see if I can go get a new one today.

Uh-oh can it be the mouse slot in the back of the computer? I used another mouse and the laser went on but the mouse didn't move

Was it a plug & play mouse?

Search the drivers.

I thought it didn't...

Just because the laser turns on doesn't mean it has the correct drivers. It just means that you have power for it.

If your a gamer then I wouldn't get a wireless mouse. There's nothing more irritating than being in the middle of a game and having the connection drop (it doesn't happen often but can happen). Also make sure it has a high dpi. Gaming Mice tend to be more than 1600dpi.

If your PS/2 port is damaged then it doesn't matter because most mice nowadays are USB.

Spend some money on a decent mouse is my suggestion.
