I am looking at this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813185077 and I am wondering if my old ddr266 (pc 2100) ram would work for me.
EDIT I am also wondering what cpu you guys think I should get a amd athlon 64 3400 2.2ghz or a intel pentium d 2.66 ghz dual core. Last edited by peter32892; 01-04-2007 at 07:07 PM.. |

Yes that motherboard should support your old ram.
I believe the pentuim d would win if your planning on using multiple applications although the athlon 3400+ is a great single core CPU. On both accounts I would reccommend that you think about upgrading to a DDR2 motherboard and a Intel Core 2 Duo (or AMD X2 3800+ if you have a low budget), as you will have more options on future upgrades.
