Azureus problem(s)...

Ok pretty new to azureus i dont know what im supposed to expect of download speeds or anything. I've been fiddling with port forwarding and finally I have made the NAT thing at the bottom green. Nat/Firewall test is also positive. Howver downloads speeds if you were to ask me are slow, Im on a wireless network which is pretty fast but my downloads on azureus average on 50kB/s. This is bad compared to limewire which can get over double that with 15 peers compared to this which has 45 peers and only 75kB/s *checked this second*. My next step is to go on my wireless router console, I look at the security log and i have things like this:

Example Jan 7 20:13:55 2007 Outbound Traffic Blocked - NAT out failed Packet not in tcp window: TCP 192.168.2.***:****->86.133.207.***:***** on ppp0

I have a feeling this is restricting my peers, i have 47 peers connected out of 7098! Not sure if this is normal but theres a lot of these like shown in the examples so I want to know what i have to do, Ive tried turning the windows and routers firewall off, dont know what else to do. Thanks

I had similar problems such as yours after going through this it helped me but I still think my download speed can be faster I just not sure hwy they slow!

Hope it helps in anyway oh and if anyone else has tips on how to further make the speed better after doing what is in the wiki please post cause I could use it too lol!

My avg. speed currently is about 140 Kb/s yet my service provider says I can have 300 kb/s!

It could be your provider. Some restrict torrent speeds, but supposedly uTorrent evades this. I'm not sure about Azureus though.

BTW: On most torrents you only get about 50kb/s, unless they're really well seeded, which few are.

Adiuvo I have some torrents that have like 5 seeders only and yet I get around 125KB/s, mostly because there is like 2 leechers! it can also depend on how many leechers there are as the seeders then have to share to more people!

Adiuvo: according to utorrents site it says "Protocol Encryption (PE) is a joint specification between Azureus and µTorrent. It is designed to bypass throttling and/or blocking of BitTorrent traffic by an ISP." So its not that. Ive done that and i now have a download of approx 70kB/s but it goes up and down, not bad Thanks

Filberto also when downloading torrents try looking for Good Torrents, torrents that have big Seeders and a good amount of leechers too! For example lets say there is 80 seeder about 20 to 25 leechers would be good! So in a way try to get more seeders as you can collect more data quickly!

You are forgetting that some torrents are used for legal purposes or distribution of free legal resources. So I am assuming the admins don't care as long as it doesn't hint at piracy.

And if you want good speeds, map your bittorrent port to some obscure number so your ISP is less likely to figure out what is going on. Look for a good ratio of seeders and leechers, more seeders + less seeders = speed (usually).

I think that is what you meant lol, Oh and hey what do you mean by mapping my bittorrent port to some obscure number? You mean making the port number really big?

Fillberto, LMAO ahh man never use teh default port, use something like bigger than 6881! I usually go into the 10,000's! I was wondering why you hd only 75KB/s even with modifying settings!

Also, my average download is very variable, just went from 97kB/s to 76kB/s. The swarm average is about 50kB/s so Itsimproving Still getting a lot of blocked - NAT out failed, just tried something to resolve it, hopefully it will work, average is 120kb/s atm.

I meant picking a number that you're ISP would never guess would be you're bt traffic. So like you said before leaving at the default is a stupid idea. I use ports 50000-50008 and it works fine after 2 years. 6881-6889 my good old ISP kills obviously.

yeh pretty much every port works, 6881 did and 55555 does too. Il change it and post the results.

Download speeds are in the 30kB/s range now.. pretty bad, il try 50000

Ok, it's on port 50000-50008 TCP, UDP is just 50000 should it be the same as the TCP? I am also getting lots of things in my routers security log of

First packet in connection is not a SYN packet: TCP 192.168.2.***:****->58.106.154.148:3009 on ppp0

Tried enabling uPnP and completley screwed it up but now i have TCP and UDP ports 50000 -> 50008 for azureus in a virtual server, i look at the security log and theres a LOT of "Packet not in tcp window" so should i change TCP ports from 80 -> 63000 or something?
