Default The World’s First External Graphics Card For Laptops

Quote:
Asus has just revealed the world’s first external video card for laptop computers at CES Unveiled in Las Vegas. The XG Station is connected via Express Card also featuring USB 2.0 and Dolby digital headphone jack support. On the XG Station itself it displays system master volume, GPU clock speed, current GPU temperature, FPS (frames per second), and a GPU fan indicator. Asus is expecting to release the XG Station with a EN7900GS graphics card in the Q2 of 2007, no word on the final price yet… but be sure to check up throughout the remainder of CES.

Yeah, Thats portable.

If you want to play games using Windows. Then get a desktop.

And can someone please tell me what is the point in Express cards? PCMCIA is fine. It does everything I need it to with the exception of external GFX cards.

This will be great for people just wanting to start gameing but they find out there laptops built in graphics card is bad or has internal. A easy upgrade for them.

Expresscard slots are currently limited to PCIe 1x, that lack of bandwidth is just going to cripple the performance of this card.

That thing is a ****in' monster. It is more or less a breakthrough though, so in time it'll be convenient, but as of now, I don't know what I'd do with it. That thing looks like it would literally EAT your battery, probably needs its own power cable.
