Well, today bought a pack of 50 DVD-RW DVDs. Now, Im beginning to think my drive cannot write to DVDs. Now, im using a laptop, and the drive shows the DVD sign thing, does it mean it can write to it? I pop in a blank DVD, and nothing, if I go to CD/DVD drive in My Computer, it freezes, then pops up some error. Does this mean I cannot write to DVDs? Or does it mean I need software to write? And if not, are there any cheap external/internal DVD writers? I just need a DVD writer.

Ok, in short you drive dosent write to DVDs most likely beacuse it would show up in windows as a blank DVD, but check out NCIX.com (if in canada) or newegg for some external drives make shure thay say DVD-RW and look if thay can burn DVD +/- R and DVD-R DL(duel layer) and your local best buy or futureshop ect. might have one too

Yeah, but the externals are hugely expensive! Im looking for internal, hopefully it works on my laptop...

try to get a freeware dvd burner app and try it. google it for a ton of em

an app won't make a difference. it just WON'T burn. It was not BUILT for burning DVDs. Put a link or give the model of your laptop, and maybe there is something...

go through and select your model and it has CD and DVD drives. I am not sure if they will have an actual upgraded drive, but it narrows the search...
