Default Wireless Network Issue

Hey people. I've ran into a recent problem. I just got a brand spanking new laser-colour beast of a printer. Me and my brother decided to connect it via an Ethernet cat 5 cable (the one that came with the Xbox360 lol). Anyhow, during the process I had to unwire many devices and remove all the tangles etc. After doing this, I set up the network again, but this time I'm getting problems.

I connect to my network as normal, the Windows Wireless Network Manager says I'm connected, all my other machines say similar and can reach the World-Wide-Web etc. This laptop however cannot and it's usually the first device to be able to do anything.

I was wandering if anyone had any suggestions to resolve this issue. So far I've disabled my NIC, then enabled it to see if connectivity is established (this use to work on my Dell machine whenever I had problems). I have also tried reparing the device, but it always seems to fail saying that it couldn't connect to a network, although it eventually does. To see where the problem lies, I connected to some other network and I was able to browse and perform other tasks immediatley.

My router is an ASUS WL-520G and I am convinced that the problem lies with this, although it hasn't suffered from any damage and is far newer than my modem (the LEDs on it indicate that it isn't the problem). Could upgrading the firmwire on the router sort things out.

All help is appreciated and I apologise for my n00bness on this issue, I thought I'd ask here as I have received network help on these forums before, although I am still looking into the issue (I'm on the Asus site).

Thanks!

UPDATE: I have tried the following;

1) Upgrading to the latest firmware, no success.
2) Booting on Linux. After getting Gnome Network Manager to finally kick in, I still cannot browse once I'm connected to my network.

how bout unplugging the printer and make your setup like before... I don't see why a printer would be the problem, but who knows. I personally like it to USB on 1 computer and just share it over the network.

The printer isn't the problem, I can print over the network. The problem as outlined in the details of my post is likely to be with the router, tests have pointed to this claim of mine.

Yeah I probably USB it to my desktop, which currently only has Linux. Since this notebook has Windows, I thought I'd run the set-up cd on here to begin with, before moving on to Linux.

UPDATE: Ok, it seems now that even when using Linux I do not have the ability to surf the www or check my mail. I can perform local tasks though.

UPDATE: I changed my Asus WL-520g with my spare Belkin Wireless G Router and everything is fine now.
