Hi,
I am getting pathetic speeds on utorrent, i was wondering if you guys could help. The Guys at utorrent didnt help much and when they did, they never replied to my comments. My problem: I used to get speeds of 250kB/s+ but now, for no apparent reason i get speeds of no more than 25-30. I need some help INFORMATION: The Openoffice Torrent catches speeds of about 23-25kB/s which is the same as the latest Axxo torrents (i tried the axxo torrents for test purposes only) My Download is about 1850 and upload is about 175/180. My Port is perfectly open (Green Circle) Global Maximum Upload Rate is 14kB/s Global Maximum Number Of Connections is 200 Max no. of connected peers per torrent is 30 Up slots per torrent is 2 Both DHT's are Ticked Ask tracker for scrape info and Peer exchange are ticked Protocol Encryptions are enabled and allows legacy connections 1 active torrent and active downloads Halfopen is 55 Patched to 70 by the Lvllord patch (Also tried LvlLord patch to 40 and Halfopen to 30, but still no change) ISP is i think BT broadband 2mb PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE FOR MORE INFO, JUST ASK ME THROUGH THE THREAD PLEASE REPLY ASAP IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRICIATED. Addition: I am running uTorrent 1.6 Build 474 -= Double Post =- Another Problem: I dont know where to find my router, on the box it tells me it's 192.168.1.2, but that doesnt work, ive tried 192.168.0.1, blah.0.2, 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 3.2, 3.1. none of these work, is there any way i can find out the number (192.168.***.***)??? The speeds I get vary every time...sometimes 500+ kb/sec, sometimes 10 - 100 kb/sec. Sometimes I get 0 then I clear the torrent and find another. |

Type cmd Type ipconfig /all Your default gateway should be the same as the IP of your router. I see you have already turned on protocol encryption, which was the first thing I was going to suggest. How about changing your port? The traditional ports are 6881-6999 and ISPs might block this. Try setting it to a large number and change the settings on your router to forward those ports. |

If you are getting a green light, everything is networked fine. Do you still get the green light if you use utorrent on the gateway PC? |

If your gateway computer is on at all times, install Torrentflux and a WAMP server.
http://www.torrentflux.com/ http://www.wampserver.com/en/ The gateway computer will download any torrent you upload to it, and then you can download it to your PC over the network. This may speed up your downloads as it reduces the number of devices your download data needs to go through in order to get onto your PC Other than that I have no idea. |

The bittorrent network is decentralized. Your speeds are NOT going to be the same all the time. You must not know much about how the network works... because the download bandwidth you get depends entirely upon the availability of the file. If there are few or no seeders for a file - people with a completed download who remain connected to the tracker and continue to offer the file - the download speed will either be slow or nonexistent. You cannot possibly expect a constant download speed from any Bittorrent download. The network is not designed to work that way, and the client you use has absolutely nothing to do with how quickly you can download a from a torrent. Every client will get approximately the same speed, give or take a couple KB/s.

Its like Freeplay said torrent speeds very greatly between torrents. It all depends how many seeders there are and how fast the upload speeds our for the seeders. Most torrents I do I get very slow speed were others such as torrents for Linux distros that usually have allot of seeders I get 800 kbs +. Its down to finding the best torrent with the biggest amount of seeders for the file you are trying to get.
Tweaks to your network may help but don't expect a huge boost.

Thanks, i know this, freeplay said it and i replied to it with: The Openoffice Torrent catches speeds of about 23-25kB/s @sphinx14: i really don't care, only useful posts, don't brag about. @FreePlay, how do i stop a bandwidth limit? |

I've also have some friends tell me that this may be also possible over a network. So if you are doing this in your office, then that means the net/sys admin might have noticed the bandwidth spiking on the network so he might have installed something to limit everyone's usage?
