Default Speeding up Windows XP

My PC at work today was incredibly slow (I've been using a different for the past two weeks so noticed it badly).

Anyway I ran a disk cleanup (cleared 3GB), defrag (was desperately needed) and spyware scans (surprisingly wasn't anything except tracking cookies) and it was still very slow. So i turned to google and came up with a whole load of links but these two were particularly good.

The PC now runs so much faster and smoother so I thought I would share them with you. They are mainly registry tweaks but they really have made an amazing difference, so when I go home I will be doing them to my computer.

A better way to improve boot times is by using Bootvis: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=664
Start it and select 'Trace + driver delays'. Once it reboots, wait until Bootvis comes up again and select 'Optimize'. It applies most of the fixes too.

Bootvis was covered in those links. I used most of the tweeks on my pc at home and its just stunning. A few of the things I already had in place (disabled services I don't need and remove programs from startup). All the registry edits were new to me tho.

Will you get any noticeable speed boosts from switching to Classic Theme?
