Do you know the date the system restore was created?

And reinstalling sound drivers should solve the sound problem.

If your PC is custom built, just go to the company website for the sound card you have. If ur PC is premade by a company, then go to that corporation's website and enter your computer model in a search box they might have and check for links with software downloads.

N idk what to do bout the messed up progs.

I changed your thread title to something more informative. If someone had the same problem and saw this title, they are more likely to come in the thread and tell you the answer.

I just recommend a format...
nLite is a good tool to make a Windows CD. You can use it to integrate all your drivers, SP2, programs etc You can make it an unatended install so all you do is put in the CD and it will enter all your details for you automatically.

Happy formatting!

On the bright side, you can still back your **** up.
System restore and repair windows install almost always mess up stuff for me. It's actually a lot easier in Vista though so you have something to look forward to

Why don't you just install on a different hard drive and then copy all of the files you want to keep?
Edit: or you could make another partition on the same drive install on it, and still have access to your files.
