Welcome to my Thread!
Windows XMB Wave Screensaver -------------------------- NEWS UPDATE: Version 0.98b released! Added some features as well as bugfixes (see changelog) Previous UPDATEs: - Version 0.97 released! Added a few features as well as fixed a few bugs! Thanks for your support! - Version 0.95 had a bug preventing it to run on Windows XP only showing a white screen / flickering. This has (hopefully) been fixed in v0.96! Thanks for your feedback and please tell me if you encounter any more bugs! ---------- EDIT ---------- Hey Guys, thanks for all the great feedback! I wouldn't have expected my small screensaver would cause so much joy So, i worked hard to implement all features you requested and fix all bugs you reported! Here is the changelog so far: Code:
- v0.98b
+ Small fixes (Position of Configuration Window, Reset Visual Options)
- v0.98
+ Again improved Multi-Monitor Supprt.
The Screensaver should now span across all screens
+ Added more compatibility options:
Resolution override option
(for very large desktop resolutions that your 3d card cannot support)
+ Added option to reset all settings to their default value
- v0.97
+ Added option to pick a background image (BMP/JPG)
+ Added compatibility mode for older (onboard) gfx cards supporting only 512 x 512 texture resolution
* Waves are smooth again (thx asuswild)
* Enabled VSync by default (even smoother wave movement)
* Fixed Speed - Setting could not be saved (thx CertifiedDORK)
* Fixed fading error
- v0.96
* Fixed a bug preventing this to work on WinXP
- v0.95 (windows vista only right now)
* Probably fixed flickering on startup (this introduced the vista-only bug :Argh:)
* Problems with hiding Mouse Cursor fixed
- v0.9
+ Added Control Panel
+ Color selection, Custom colors
+ Frequency of Colorchange, Background Options
+ Wave Speed, Wave Height
* Fixed Several smaller Bugs
- v0.5
* Fixed Bug concerning Multi-Monitors / Widescreens :)
* Fixed Timing Errors
- BETA 1
* First Public Beta Release
Just a Quick note: - Mac or Linux version won't happen any time soon, as this is DirectX dependant (for now). Sorry! - I would love to implement this running on the Desktop (in background). I'm trying to figure out the requirements for this, but its a lot of work... please be patient -------------------------- ![]() DOWNLOAD: Wave_by_AoR_0.98b.zip VISI: My temporary site for this Project Last edited by agentorange; 03-02-2007 at 06:32 AM.. This is totally sweet!
Now if it could just extract the waves from the system_plugins_bg.rco. Then we could use custom waves! lol JK. Thats too hard to do.

Wow, I REALLY like it. Man, please keep improving it. I wonder if someone crazily skilled could mod it to action use the psp rco to generate the wav. (It would have to read the hex values and know how to apply them which I don't think anyone truly understands yet)

Damn cool, going to use this for a while :)
But for customization, is it possible to get options to change the size and speed of the wave ? And the fading effect is great, but would it be possible to get an option for fade at the end too. The sudden change in brightness burns my eyes when the screen saver closes :D But, the more configuration the better. Just don't forget the 'default' button ;P [EDIT] Oh, and could it be possible to refresh the 'background' once in a while ? So I could leave Winamp playing and see what song is playing :P |

Monitors have gotten better and shouldn't be vulnerable to an image burning on the screen. @original poster I like it though. Maybe if you could add support for crazier waves and cool wave color would be nice. Or even an option to set the number of waves on the screen.

I'll admit it, out of all the screen savers out there, I've always been a classic "flying stars" fellow. However, this just bumped out the old stars from spot one. The only thing I found weird was that it took several seconds to get going. It faded the screen, and the waves showed up, but it wasn't for a few seconds before they began moving. Not sure if it was my computer or what, as each subsequent attempt was fine. Just thought I'd share my experiences.
