Default Problems installing a dual boot XP on my Vista laptop

I am currently running Vista on a Dell E1705 (which means I have that second 'recovery' partition already in place)

I was just gonna leave it there, since it has about 5 gigs free on it (or do I need more? the partition is 9 gigs if I delete the recevory [I dont have a vista disc I dont think])

but heres my problem

A. loading the XP disc I have from Vista, the setup has 'Install Windows XP' grayed out

and B.

booting off the disc leads me to a Blue screen of death when its done loading the drivers and tries to boot up XP. The blue screen has something about 'pci.sys' at the bottom

so,is there any suggestions? what I really need is if theres a way to install XP on my other partition while vista is running or something...

I'm guessing XP is having a problem with my pci driver perhaps?

I dont think your getting the point

I cant get the XP setup to load at all

even without the partitions setup, the XP disc should LOAD

and thats basically what the guide is,telling you how to setup a partition when I already have one (and its a primary partition too).

So basically I did go through the guide, I just cant get to the part where I install XP from the disc

Get a hold of an XP disc with SP2 on it, either by slipsteaming or via torrents.

http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?act...showarticle=49 for the former. Google for the latter.
