Default Static vs. Dynamic IP address

OK, so after hearing torrents go faster, blah blah blah port forward blah blah do it blah, I'm now looking into it. And I got a few questions.
If I assign static IP adress, do I have to manually set it for each computer?
Even ones connecting wirelessly?
And what if I have laptop and change the settings, it leaves connection, then comes back. Will config stay the same?

Thanks in advance

alright, and one last thing.
Who has this actually done? I want to know how much speed improvement it
makes. (YES I DO KNOW it varies depending on connection, so for reference I am using cable at about 600 kb/s topz.

yep, i have my ports forwarded
what it does is allow you to connect to more people
the more peers you have, the higher chance you'll be connected to a peer that uploads to you

You DON'T have to do it for each PC if you select your range carefully. My static IP is set to 192.168.0.254 and the rest of the PCs are automatically assigned. Since there are less than 254 devices that can connect with the internet here, there is never any conflict.

Hmmm.... If you don't have to go through the trouble of not assigning every new computer, why not do it? Care to give a guide or explain exactly how to do it so I don't have to assign each individually?
-= Double Post =-
trying to skip ahead and do it without waiting... I used this guide. I am not sure of the results yet. So I'll post in a few minutes.

EDIT: seems like a no go. I might be messing up in the actual port forward part, either way, I would like to know how.

Well I have a static IP on my desktop, my torrents go from 40kbps to about 100kpbs after I set up the static IP.

Congratulations, I fixed it!

And am so happy I did! The speeds went up dramtically. I've had torrents going 200 without open port, the current was going round 20-25 now is going 100 kb/s.

I assign static IPs through windows since my router is crap. The only reason I don't set up static IPs on other peoples PC is because I don't really want to go around to the 4 other ones in the house and change them.

The way I do it is right click the network connection and select properties, select 'internet protocol' and select properties and then just enter an IP address that you want.

However the IP address must be high if you do not want it to clash with the other PCs which may have dynamic IPs.

Glad you got it sorted out though
