Hi,
I have just installed vista on my PC and it has 2 hard drives. Before i installed i put my things in my D drive and then carried on installing. I formatted C and installed vista onto it. I then moved my things back to c formatted d and then put it back (dont know why just thought i may as well have a fresh start) Well i wanted to keep my documents on D and have it like D was the "My Document" are (if you know what i mean. Basically i wanted to keep C as operating system and important programs. and D as my documents and other programs. I started changing the location of some of the files. eg. the documents folder i changed to be on the D... But i got all muddled up and dneded up making a right mess of things. I have all my things intact on D but vista is point here there and everywhere finding my files and all i want to do now it just get it back to normal as if i had just installed it without actually HAVING to install it. Can someone please tell me what to do, and find a quick fiz out of this mess, or even a long fix i dont really mind. Starting to get really annoyed with this operating system, but i had to install it as XP was on its last legs. Thanks, Francis

Put all your files back where they were and the back them up. Then, uninstall everything slowly, as not to miss anything.

Dont get me wrong vista is good (comming from a mac fan) but it just the user folder and having 2 drives and the locations were frustrating me and i was getting confsed with the "do you want to move the whole contents" yes or no and everything.
Yes i should of backed up everything before i started changing the locations but i didnt think i would run into this sort of trouble. I just wopuld have expected a simple restore folder to default button somewher but oh well i shal just have to move everything and create the folders all over again. I kind of knew what i was doing and i had read around but i wanted to make it so that one one drive was the operationg system and the other, my files. With no hiccups or anything getting in the way. Eg. the buttons in the start menu point to the folders on the second drive. the user folder point to a folder on the secodn drive (which i dont think you can do? ) Anyway thanks for the replies. edit: in responce to urzas link, i had all my files on D not c so i didnt just move the location of the documents folder. All im looking for now is a way to create all the folders as they were and have their locations as they were without touching my foles on D
