Cool *** UPDATE! RELEASE* RCO Swapper v2

** UPDATE! **
************************* *
There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding about which topmenu_plugin.rco file you can use to edit icons and menu names. In order to clear this up, I have attached the original kgsws's file which is the basis for all of these XMB edits.
(If i have broken any forum rules by doing this, i apologize in advance for my mistake.)

GreetZ!

As requested, I have created a version 2 of my "RCO Swapper" to allow for sub-menu editing. This proved to be much more of a challenge than I originally thought it would be, as there were 29 menu names to code for.

So without further delay, here is my second attempt at programming .....

======================

"RCO Swapper v2" is a handy little utility that lets you change the primary and sub-menu names on your XMB without needing to manually hexedit or run scary patches.

How to use this:
- Put "RCO Swapper v2.exe" and your "topmenu_plugin.rco" file in the same directory, and run "RCO Swapper v2.exe"
- Use the drop down boxes to select the menu name you want to change, and then use the edit box below the name to customize it the way you like
- Click the "Temp Save" button to see your changes reflected on the right
- When you have finished making all of your changes, click the "! Swap It !" button. The blue names on the right will become the new names. Your topmenu_plugin file is now swapped with your custom names!

-------------------------
Things you need to know when you run this proggy:

1. If you don't have the "topmenu_plugin.rco" file in the same directory, you get the boot.

2. Yes, you can use a customized topmenu_plugin file where you have already changed the icons. In order to allow for this, it is mandatory that you use the 242KB "topmenu_plugin.rco" file. (My apologies for not making that clear last time.)

3. You are limited to the same maximum number of characters as the original text. For example, the menu item "Video" has five characters ("V", "i", "d", "e" and "o"), you cannot use six characters for your new name. **NEW** Exception - the menus "Game" and "UMD*" can now be edited up to five characters!

4. **NEW** You no longer need to use spaces in order to fill up the entire menu name. (If you replace "Game" with "Toy", the fourth character "e" will automatically become a SPACE.)

5. The menu names "UMD*", "Memory Stick*", and "Free Space" are shared names. Changing one will change them all. For example, if you change the name "Memory Stick*" to "Mem Stick" under MUSIC, the "Memory Stick*" under VIDEO will also change to "Mem Stick". (By the way, "Free Space" is the text located below your Memory Stick icon.)

6. You must click the "Temp Save" button each time you are finished editing a menu name! The blue names on the right will become the new names. Verify you have made ALL of the changes you want BEFORE you click "! Swap It !"

7. You can only do this one time for each original topmenu_plugin file! A directory called "Backup" will be created in the same directory as the program, and a backup of your original "topmenu_plugin.rco" is copied there. If you want to edit the names again, you can use this ORIGINAL file.

8. The "topmenu_plugin.rco" file now has it's menu names swapped. Use your favorite PSP utility to flash the new file to your PSP. If you are nervous about flashing it, simply replace the "topmenu_plugin.rco" file in the appropriate Devhook directory (for example: DH\302\f0\vsh\resource) to test it out before you flash.

9. As with any homebrew application involving flashing, nobody is responsible for things that go wrong with your PSP except you!

======================

Thank you most of all Dark Alex for making all of this possible for all of us!

======================

Mahalo,

Daveychan

******!!!!Clarification!! !!******
It seems there has been some confusion on which topmenu_plugin file you can use. You must use the latest available DECRYPTED RCO file which comes from a FW2.50 dump. It is 242Kb in size and is also the same file you use to change the XMB icons.
