Smile PSP GNU CHESS: Chess game for PSP v1.0.2

Hi All,

GNU Chess is command line Chess program running on many differents systems
such as UNIX, windows or MacOS. It was started in 1986 by Stuart Cracraft,
who is continuing to develop it with other coders such as Chua Kong Sian,
Stuart Cracraft, Lukas Geyer, Simon Waters and David A. Wheeler.

PSP Gnu Chess use the GNU Chess version 5.07 for the Artificial Intelligence,
and i've added a Graphical User interface.

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

What's new is this version ?

- Option to specify search depth (i.e: difficulty)
- Add Undo feature
- Add Book feature, move database is stored in file book.dat.
The file given with this homebrew is the book.dat provided
with gnuchess (but you can replace it by your own)
- Bug fix when you put black on the bottom of the screen,
King and Queen weren't at the right place !
- Bug fix with keys/analog pad (sensitivity was too high)

Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.

You can download it on my blog :
http://zx81.zx81.free.fr/

Enjoy,

Zx.

Cool. I tried out the previous version and rather liked it.
The button sensitivity was an issue so this should be a nice improvement, plus difficulty adjustment is always great (esp if the comp player moves sooner that way).

One suggestion: PGN import/export wd be great if it's not too difficult to implement. I'm not sure how well you know chess stuff but there are a couple of different notations... but there's one that's more widespread than the others and pretty simple (includes small & capital letters, +, #, no figurines, nothing outlandish)

export pgn is rather simple, since it exists already in gnuchess. The import feature is a bit more complex (even if it exists also in gnuchess). I plan to add export pgn soon.

Good work again zx-81

A couple of famous games to watch in a demo mode would be nice.
like the 1834 match between Labourdonnais and MacDonnell that also
appeared in an episode of Lexx.

A lightning quick demo game would also make a very nice intro.
-= Double Post =-
Like the skinnging idea too.. bring on monster chess.

I got stung in my first game BTW.

You sure this isn't IBM Deep Blue?

I thought I was ok, but if anyone actually beats this game with it's default
settings let us know.
I keep repeating the same opening, it does play the same each time,
eventually, it shoud be able to be tricked.
