Well, its not working at all on WinXP PC. I tried to run the maintence utility and it says it cannot create a directory or something. Everytime I put the G6 into the Udisk and plug it in, it says this hardware may not be working properly and in the device manager it has a yellow excalamation point and says it cannot start, code 10. Windows trouble shooting doesnt fix anything either. I've uninstalled and reinstalled manually several times and nothing works.
Im just going to send this back to winsunx for a replacement. This time I wont even bring it near my win98 computer, lol. Hopefully they respond to me email soon. Thanks for everyones help.
WinXP does not work either!??
Allright guys, I must have big problems.
I just went and picked up my winxp computer and tried to use my G6 on it. When I first plugged it in windows said found new hardware. Then it said hardware may not be working properly. So I go to my computer and it doesnt even show up?
So I go into device manager and find the usb and it has a yellow exclamation point on it, so I go into properties and it says that it cannot be started code 10. I went through all of the windows trouble shooting and nothing worked.
So I took the G6 off of the u disk thing and just plugged that in. So it then showed up as removeable disk e. So then I plugged the g6 itself into the u disk and it finnaly showed up. But when I try to open it, I get a I/O device error or something. Then I tried to run the scan disk for errors thing but it didnt do anything, just paused for a sec then went away.
So even on Win XP it still does not work. Win XP says it cannot be started, code 10, I/O device error, it wont reformat and it wont let me check for errors.
I've already sent winsunx an email asking for a return address so I can send it back for a replacement.
Does anyone know how I might fix this problem? Thanks for everyones help.
Now my win98se computer wont even recognize the G6 lite. Right before it wouldnt recognize it, I tried to format it again, and it said something was wrong with the allocation tables or something and that it couldnt format. So I ran my Scan Disk program with Win98 to check the the g6 for errors. And it found several of them but everytime I tired to fix it, Win98 would freeze in the process of fixing the errors, so I couldnt fix it. Then after that now my computer wont even recognize the g6, the little blue light flickers a few times real dim like and then it just doesnt do anything.
I should be getting my winxp computer today or tommorrow. So I'll let you guys know if it works on that pc or not.
Ok, The G6 loader software that is supposed to transfer my roms and patch them to the G6 lite still does not work on my win98se computer. I notice that on the loader it says e://nds or e://gba. I think this is an error and that it should only have one / if you notice it has two //. It wont let me change this. Again I think this has too do with win98.
When I reformatted I lost the name of all the folders so now I dont know the names and I just guessed and made two folders one called NDS and the other GBA. I put my golden sun rom into the gba folder and I put my mario kart and new super mario bros roms into the NDS folder manuallly without the g6 loader software and booted it up. The DS roms now show up in the approriate spot but they dont work cause they arent patched by the g6 software the DS roms boot up but I just get two white screens. Now on the other hand the GBA roms boot up just fine without any problems.
Also I found out that the only problem with using the newer english firmwares has nothing too do with the G6 cart. Cause if you use the newer english firmwares and just the g6 cart without a passcard 3 it will work just fine in full english. But as soon as I put that passcard 3 in I get an error saying please install the english language. So this error of the newer firmwares has nothing to do with the g6 cause it works just fine, its when you use the new versions with the passcard 3 that it doesnt work with english. Luckily I have the very first beta version of english that I downloaded from GBAtemp and it works in english with passcard 3.
So to sum it for you:
-G6 loader not working yet
-NDS roms manually installed without the g6 loader but dont work cause I cant patch them
-GBA roms work just fine manually installed without the g6 loader.
-English firmwares from newer versions work just fine, but not when combined with passcard 3. If you use passcard 3 and want new firmware you have to use chinese or use the somewhat older beta english firmware.
I'll let you guys know how this works once I hook it all up on my Win Xp computer when I've got time.
I just got my G6 lite with passcard 3 today. But for some reason no matter how I try I cannot load a DS or GBA rom onto my G6 lite!!
I've tried using the loader on the disc that I recieved and I cant even access the gba portion, it doesnt give me the option too write to the card. But when I click nds it does give me the option. So I hit write, I choose my ds rom and it says it wrote to it successfully but it doesnt show up on the loader nor is it anywhere on the cart. I've also tried this with the updated loader too. So its not the disc.
I cant figure out how to format the card? There is no option to format this card. The only way I could format was going into my computer and right clicking the removable disc e (my g6) and choose format, but I dont have an option of choosing fat16 or fat32 or anything. So I formatted the card and tried using the loader again but it still will not load up any rom at all!
I am using a win98se computer and it does seem like the usb thing for the g6 doesnt connect all the way to this computers usb so Im thinking maybe its not connecting all the way, but the little blue light on the g6 is on so I dont know what the problem is. I will just have to wait and try it on my newer computer with xp. This really sucks.
