Why don't video game developers work with Gaming News Sites
Here is something that's been bugging me. Now before I get started I want to make it clear that I'm not talking about Piracy or anything illegal. But when it comes to the big development companies why don't they seem to want to work with gaming sites like QJ? You are probably asking what I'm talking about so let me back up and explain a little.
Every so often we get a takedown request from a game developer when we run a story about something like 'leaked screenshots of an upcoming game." Of course we always comply with their requests but it just doesn't make that much sense to me. The people who read sites like QJ are the target audience for these game developers. Its not like we are posting ways to pirate their games. We just (for example) posted a news article about the upcoming game and happen to include the 'leaked' screen shots that were already online at other gaming sites.
If I was the developer and someone wanted to proved me with FREE PRESS about my upcoming game I'd be glad it was out there and being posted on a site where the people reading the article are the same people I want to buy my game.
Anyway....rant over. What do you guys think.
