I've been reading these forums for a while and I thought I would start posting, so to kick it off I'll post my modest setup. The camera I was using is alright, its nothing special.
BTW - I am from Scotland and I am 17, I watch/play American Football

17" CRT Monitor (my desk is weird so I can't use an LCD without it sliding off)

My wire management is definitely sucky at the moment but I haven't got UV cable sleevings yet.
Once I do, the ugly wires will be gone and I'll be getting a blue and a UV cold cathode to finalize the setup, so to speak.

if i knew how to turn the flash off on my camera, i would take pics of my computer but with the flash on, it makes it like look like its in negative mode thing...

and i thought my setup was cool... mine looks so old school though! i have 2 computer monitors next to each other but going into 2 different computers! (pretty cool!) i have 2 xbox's!, 3 PS2's, game cube, KICK A$$ stereo!, thats about it...

amd anthlon 4000+ (probly ognna upgrade to a FX cause they mad cheap now)

Radeon x850xt

2 gigs ram


probly all you need to know...but yours is probly better anyway.

2GBs is pretty standard nowadays, even in retail pre-built comps.

i dont see 2 gigs much...i usually see 512-1. maybe i'lll upgrade my ram when i upgrade my procesor =p

im afraid to overclock mine...its fine at 2.4ghz which is pretty high for an AMD....i may overclock though once i order a better procesor...just for the hell of it

Or a better mobo, whatever your mobo happens to be. Since you won't be able to do much with your CPU if your mobo is a major limiting factor.
And then there's ram of course, but let's not get too detailed lol.

It's just a 7300GS, nothing too fancy. I'd rather save up for DX10. ;)

Nice. Cable management is good. Have you got a pic of it in the light so I can see better?

I got all my PC parts now. But I can't get XP to install and work cleanly. I think I might've clocked it up too high, it's not so much stability issues but when rebooting after installing programs and updates, the display keeps reseting. So I tried changing the graphics drivers and now I need to reinstall. Guess it'll teach me for going for the torrent that downloading quickest. I've got 2 different isos dl'ing now.

I just put an x800 GTO in mine. And it's huge compared to the Radeon 7250.

Specs atm are:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
2GB DDR400
HIS X800GTO
ASRock 939Dual-SATA2
280GB HDD (2 drives)

It's not water cooled atm but it will be. Not so much for temps but for noise.

About your graphics instability, have you locked your agp/pci/pci-e clocks in the bios before overclocking? That should be more of the problem than the graphics drivers not displaying correctly.

Yeah. The CPU clock and Gfx clock are Asynchronous. It stays at what it should be while the CPU clock goes up. I've also clocked the RAM down from 200MHz to 166MHz. Because I've got the CPU going from 200MHz FSB to 240MHz, I've also dropped the multiplier from x11 to x10.

So basically it's gone from 2.2GHz to 2.4GHz. The RAM is running at 206MHz. And the PCI-e is Asynch so is stock speed, but can be clocked from windows using HIS iTurbo. I tried leaving the multiplier at x11 to get 2.64GHz but it wouldn't POST like that.

I'm just gonna install again, trying the Omega drivers instead of ATi Catalyst drivers. And with a different windows cd. Could be that the windows disc is laced with viruses.

You could try leaving the multiplier at x11 to get 2.64 but also increasing the vCore by a little bit. That may help it post cause the same thing happened to me and that's what I did to fix it.
That happened when I went from 3520Mhz (220x16) to 3920Mhz (245x16) and it wouldn't POST and a little bit more from vCore solved the problem.

Also, what is your CPU:RAM ratio? Since you clocked your RAM so much lower, then it wouldn't be able to keep up with your CPU, rendering it quite inefficient.

The vcore is at 1.4V which is the highest I can set it without any hardware tweaks. I clocked the RAM down because that's what I was made to believe was the right way to go about it because I was told adding 40MHz to FSB means adding 40MHz to RAM. I was dubious about it. I'm sure the problem with not being able to POST is with the vCore, might have to dig out the silver marker and try a hardware mod. But i wanna get the PC up and running before trying that.

Ok room and stuff are done/decorated I finally got round to taking some pics of my gaming setup (which is basically identical to before but I got my Dreamcast and Gamecube back out, and of course decorated walls/laminate flooring is different). And of course I'm including pictures of my DVD collection because I like to.
