Caution, Long post as you could suspect!
Hello all! Well today, as promised, I would make my 3000th post! :Jump: What better way then to celebrate it, then posting a Memory post in the forum where all the posts started. =D
Well.. this post will cover the systems I played with as they came out and abit about them. =)
Well 1st off... as most of you know, I am a skilled all around tech girl as I like to call it. Basically that revolved more around that I was there when the PC age, video game systems bloomed. Sure I played TV Pong and so.. however that isnt where I focused on.
I would have to say 1st. I learned everything from a Commodore 64/128D
(PSP Emulator http://dl.qj.net/C64-v0.3-Commodore-.../492/catid/120 )
Growing up with this was a treat, playing tons of classics like Wizzard of Wor, which is a simple maze shooter game, 2 player, with backstabbing your ally allowed. Very fun even today! =D
Mail order Monsters - Make your own monster, power them up as they win battles, archon style fighting.
Archon - A unique type of chess game using monsters, power skills etc. Light and day affecting things your power depending if you were playing as light or dark.
Ghostbusters - If you ask me to explain this game... go play it yourself. Lol.. everyone should know this one, it was the same on NES.
Donald Ducks Playground - Ok, a kids game, you do your jobs, very easy but some are challenging, just to buy things for your nephews to play in on the play ground itself. =) Fun and a great side game to have!
Maniac Mansion - A CLASSIC Lucas game. One of the ORIG point and click games out there. This game, if you never played it, GET IT, Its a challenge, many different endings, or ways to blow yourself up! =D (Push the red button in the pool) Man this game gave me the creeps at 1st.. I mean you never knew if someone in that family was in the next room or could pop up..
Fun aspects? Play as Razor and put Eds hampster in the microwave, then once cooked, give it back to Ed to find out you just died. lol... Later the ironic sequel Day of the Tenticle for the PC actually HAS the orig game in Eds computer.. its funny tho.. he only remembers one thing... The sound.. "BING!" lol
I still say however, the C64 had the BEST sound for this game! I played the PC version and Razors rock band did NOT sound the same at all.
Impossible mission - As the title implies.. it was.. this game was FUN to play, solve puzzles etc, avoiding robots.. but you never had enough time to do things.. then you blew up. You had to one avoid robots in various rooms, if THAT wasnt enough being a platform game, you THEN had to use puzzle parts to solve the game. Very fun.. if you played it today, you will prob not beat it lol.
Spare Change - Ok God this is one of my most played games! All you try to do... take tokens.. put them into the spot to get into the show.. sounds easy eh? Not really, they have 2 guys there also after the tokens to put into their bank, a very nice quick action paced game full of challenge! Using phones to distract them, music, popcorn etc. =) I would get this for the PSP C64 if you havent yet. =) Most C64 games are free to download now.
Moving on.. cause I could go on forever on C64.. lol. (Btw the 128D was a green screen version, upgraded from the C64.. you could however load the C64 which was required for most games, sigh.. just be glad you dont have to wait for those loading times anymore.. some games took 10 mins to load bringing the term of the era.. "Patience is a 1541 disc drive")
Next off.. just to make this quicker. Was a Tandy TL2 series DOS PC.
Something like a 4 MB HD for its own little OS, classic dos commanding and games. I think we all know some old games played here.. Shuffle puck cafe, Alien drug lords, Chinese chess, Ishido, Ernies big splash. ^_^v, Hell.. alot of classics! Centurion was a nice strategy game too.
OH Populous! How could I forget.. a classic game to have played! =D Needless to say.. as the PC age went on.. so did we. Moving up to 486s, etc. Shareware games were HUGE at the time, only found on Cds etc, Jazz Jackrabbit was one major one played. ^_^v after that.. you should know where we went.. Diablo 1, upward. Wont get too much into those.
Console wise.. god.. It started with a Atari 7800.
Classic Centipede, Pacmans, etc.. Some examples of games I know I played are,
Your job is to get the criminal stealing the goods, quite challenging for the game.
Another classic, made a few sequels. Platform gaming at its best. Avoiding traps and odd things. heh.
Pole Position - http://www.gametronik.com/site/rubri...edias/8855.png
I dont know many people who wouldnt know this game as its still in many arcades today. The begining of old school racing and still fun to play. =D
Loderunner was another one mixed in there somewhere. =)
After Atari came NES. Which I THINK most of us know even if its only from emulations! I dont think I need to focus too much here. Grew up with classic Mario and Duck hunt, going to friends to play Skate or Die. Mario 3 was a gift from Santa. Never cared too much about Mario 2 tho..
