Is it just me or do other poeple think the video game industry is getting worst with each new generation? With each passing generation of new video game consoles developers seem to forget what the point of a video GAME console which is to play GAMES. Why should I care that I can view photos, videos or whatever on my console? Who really buys there video game console because of these features? Seriously who really listened to cds on there PS1? If I want to view photos, listen to music, play dvds, or surf the web then ill use my laptop. All these extra features which are pretty pointless and just bring up the cost.(ya you'll use them some times but wouldnt you rather buy a video game console cheap w/o those features?) I can understand for portable systems like the psp(I have one myself) its pretty cool to watch dvds, listen to music, and view photos on the go but for a home consoles I just dont understand what the point of having all that stuff.
The biggest problem with the video industry now imo is the focus more on graphics, cutscenes, and FMV then gameplay. Ya these are great but if the gameplay sucks who cares if the characters are super realistic realistic. I think the greatest system ever made was and will always will be the SNES. Back in the SNES era developers didnt have to waste time with having the best graphics or the most realistic FMV and focused mostly on gameplay. I dont think in like 20 years any PS3 or Xbox 360 game will ever be a classic like Super Mario Bros or Zelda Link to the Past.
Anyone else feel this way?
