Sweet I have an 8gb. So I should just update to 1.1.4 then install the 1.1.3 apps. Or do I run ZiPhone before everything?

I've run into a problem D:. I did the ZiPhone and everything. It just won't install Installer 3.0 or BSD 2.0 from the installer. It says "package download failed" I'm on 1.1.4 btw

ziphone doesnt install openssh.

K I got them to install...

But now I can't install summerboard, or deleted it >_>

I'm so annoyed! I got my iPod yesterday, for my birthday, and the great news was that it came with Firmware 1.1.1. But, my Parents aren't going to let me Jailbreak it! They are worked that it will break and Apple won't repair it. I want Jailbreak!

Well you can restore it... then apple can fix it...

I know that it rarely happens, but what happens if my iPod get so screwed, it won't even start? Or will the Recovery Mode thing always work?

The only thing you should be scared about, is your iTouch giving you a error message during restore.

Loads of people have gotten those whilst restoring, but apparently there's a way to get around it.

Judging by your sig, you hacked your PSP right? Well why did you do that, when that had a hugh chance of bricking and till only recently, couldnt be fixed? But your reluctant to hack an iPod Touch that has its own Recovery mode built in?

Anywho, its your iPod, so do whatever you want with it.

Jailbreaking is as far as i have seen is safe.
The only thing that has troubled me is ZiPhone!

They're releasing Spore on the iPhone... My genitals just exploded...

Heh, damn straight. Someone's gonna find a way to do it, and if there's DRM, it will probably be broken, and if nobody does, there will most likely be a way to run it without having to check DRM. [Dev team Pwnage ftw.]

Has anyone got PocketTouch yet? Its brilliant. Its basically a application that allows you to control the music player whilst its in your pocket with swipes and touches. Pretty cool.

Just wanted to point out, the majority of developers for the Installer are moving over to the SDK and are going to charge for it.

Looks like we're buggered till its cracked.

As long as I can get the Appstore working on my Unlocked iPhone, I'll be happy.

Piracy is so out of hand. One has to wonder why people still make anything anymore, when people just steal it.

Totally agree. Thats why i donated to MooCowMusic for making the Piano, Drummer and Guitar apps on the iPhone. Their brilliant.

Alright...I'm thinking about getting an iTouch with my left over money. Although I already have a nice Zune 30 from a while back. The real reason I'm looking to get an iTouch is so I can jailbreak it and then later install the Wiki database on it (that's one nice reason) and some other nice apps. I do not have a large library of music so the 8gb model should do the trick

Only question I have..is the 280$ worth it in the end if I already own a zune? I'm more interested in the other features of the iPhone, I have a PDA but it's got limited memory, no wifi, and is outdated hardware.

@Frozen: I think spending $280 on a piece of hardware just to view a wiki database is a bit... well, not silly... just unnecessary. Sure it's nice to have a portable wiki database, but for $280? No thanks. Obviously that isn't all you will use it for, but if your Zune is working and has enough space to hold your not-so-large music library then buying a new MP3 player for the sake of a couple of unneeded extras is as I said, unnecessary.

I say yes....People use there ipods for way more than music now in days... and with jailbrake there going to be a even bigger homebrew apps then what the psp has....So if you still love brew then the Ipod touch is the place to be at the moment...and for the most part the ipod touch is really a upgrade from the 2 divces you got right now.. Now it really not a better music player then your zune but does everthing else great...It does video in a better screen than both your zune and pda.Better battery life then both.About 4 time litter than both(that may be to much but it still a hell of alot smaller.

IT not the best picture but you get the idea...Then on top of all that you get better internet(and the itunes store).Just think of any flaw that those 2 have and you might not see it in the ipod touch...

I want one myself but just cant seem to get myself to buy a 6th mp3 player for 300.If there ever going to be a 4gb for 199 or somthing then I be sure to get it...

Ok so I've been debating either getting an 8GB iPhone or a 16GB iPod Touch.

I just have a question, if I buy an iPhone directly from Apple for $400 do I have to purchase an AT&T service plan? I just want to buy it and unlock it and use my existing Roger's SIM card in it. Can I do that or do I have to buy the iPhone somewhere else?

Or I can buy a 16GB John Lennon Edition (does this mean anything special?) iPod Touch for $250 and jailbreak it and use my existing phone... If I jailbreak an iPod Touch I can do everything the iPhone can just not make/receive calls or take pictures (as there is no cam on the iPod Touch) right?

Can I get some advice please lol.

Thanks, I pretty much knew everything you have said and has lead me to make the purchase before even getting a reply back in this thread - I pretty much had it decided last night (couldn't sleep lol), and so far I'm happy with my purchase.

@Moose - I'm also going to use the homebrew apps that people have made for it and use Safari and the Mail when on-the-go instead of having to whip out my laptop and waste precious battery there that I need for my long lecture classes.

Question to those iTouch owners - I'm currently on Firmware 1.1.3 and am wondering what's the best jailbreaking option I have. I can jailbreak 1.1.3, however another guide recommends that I update to 1.1.4 and use ziphone to jailbreak it - which is better?
