hmmm, i just saw this thread and it made me think..... Where the f**k is my ipod touch.....
I'm worried. My iPods been acting up recently. I was listening to music and it just stopped and displayed the apple logo when you switch it on. Did it for ages then went to the home screen. Youtube's been really laggy and recently, videos have been displaying red bits on them. But then it goes after a few plays..anyone else experiencing this?
the wierd thing on the video is just a respring..
i don't really know why its been super slow.. lol
just restored like 10 times........
A respring? Isnt that the term used for restarting your springboard? That happens after changing themes ect?Zitat:

Please go into more detail.
Who wants to start a QJ iPhone/iTouch project? We could get making something.
This is an idea thats been bubbling away in my mind for sometime:
All UK owners of either iPhone/iTouch should know of the BBC iPlayer. For the rest, i'll explain. Its a site for the British Broadcasting Channel that plays the last 7 days of shows that its had on. Now its viewable on the iPhone/iTouch via the Quicktime application. (Sorta how the Apple site works on it).
I was thinking, couldnt we set up our own one? With Movies and TV Shows on it? Obviously we'd have to respect QJ's rules and not discuss the actual pirating part. But who says we cant put public legal videos on this!
So what does everyone think?
Youtube?
Totally, because youtube can host 200mb files, right?Zitat:

Stop trolling the iPhone forums with useless posts please.
What would you need to host 200MB files for? You said yourself you would have to be careful with illegal material. My post was completely valid, thank you very much.
Also, wouldn't it take a while to load a 200MB file in the iPhone/iTouch's browser?
EDIT: I just realised that it would stream it.
Lol... just stick with the Youtube and BBC iPlayer :ROFL:Zitat:

I recently bought an Ipod Touch. Money could of been spent better, now that I think about it. But oh well, no regrets.
Why?Zitat:

If we can have movies and shows on our iPhones/iPods, without having to download/copy them over. Then why the hell shouldnt we do it?
A minute ago you said you were going to host legal videos. So, what movies and shows over 200MB are you going to host that people cant just youtube for?Zitat:

For streaming videos and music I use: http://code.google.com/p/telekinesis/
Admittedly it is only for Mac but if you have a Mac and an iPhone/iTouch then you should definitely get this, even lets you control your Mac ;)
As for windows, i'm sure there are streaming apps out there be that via the browser in the iPhone/touch or native app. I saw something from http://mooncatventures.blogspot.com/ although I am not sure if it is any good since I don't use it.
Your first post about this made it sound like you wanted a sort of youtube for large files though your previous post suggests just a simple streaming solution to save space so make up your mind on what you want.
Theoretically it's extremely possible and I think is a great idea. If you think of the PSP radio and Freeplay doing his own version based on the original sony radio. In theory (This is the hard part) reverse engineer the BBC iplayer and the youtube app then create our own based on it (like i said easier to say then to do) Then we have a server to hold videos that can be uploaded (and if we have some smart people we can ip block in the case of those naughty videos, if we don't want them) then they can be viewed on the iPod Touch/iPhone.
We could also just have a server which holds MP4 encoded videos so the iTouch/iPhone can read them but they open in a new page and people are having trouble trying to embed them.
Quick question. I haven't got my iTouch yet :( But I was wondering how much the songs cost on the iTunes Wifi store in the UK
79p is what I'm seeing when I go on it. Read my above post by the way (you posted 1 min after me, just incase you didn't see it :) ) I really don't see a need for a larger youtube for legal content and if all that is needed is a streaming solution then a quick search around will find a few good options I'm sure.
I see what you mean but it could be for those videos that the pope would slap you silly for watching. as it could get annoying trying to watch them on safari.
Not that i plan to or anything :D
If you didn't see, my post mentioned movies and tv shows. Just to be on the safe side, I said we could host legal videos.
Imagine this, going onto a site, clicking family guy, then choosing what episode you want to view. Without downloading, without converting.
oh what like tv-links before it was closed due to illegal videos (Ratatouille links when it was still in cinema's) but instead of linking to sites (which is how the guy got around the piracy problem) links to our own sites. Plus I now understand what you mean with the BBC iPlayer app as the iTouch/iPhone don't have there own flash version yet. But like I said we could have them as MP4's encoded just for the iTouch/iPhone, whilst these open in a seperate page it is a lot easier to do then create a whole app.
So are there any must have applications I should be putting on my iPhone once I jailbreak it?
Well these are the first thing I would get if I had to redownload my apps.
TapTap Revolution - Fun to play with music, sorta like guitar hero and that sort of thing.
iPhysics - little physics game where you can draw objects etc. (You can get maps for it which lets you do things like pinball, if you get iPhysics look for H3X Vehicular pack :) )
SMB Prefs - Themes for the iPhone (If you want more customization then theres 'Customize' which lets you customize the other things that SMB doesn't)
Sketches - Always fun to doodle on a picture you have just taken or already have in the phone :)
MIM(Make it mine) - Lets you change the Network name in the top left to anything you want
A VERY must have for me is Taskbar Notifier. It puts a little icon in the bar at the top to tell you if you have a missed call, text message because normally the iPhone doesn't do this for you.
Maybe MxTube if you want to download youtube videos to your phone to watch without having to be connected to the internet.
All can be found on Installer apart from the Vehicular map I mention for which you need to add the source http://iphone.r4m0n.net/repos to the installer.
Oh and for instant messaging I use Apollo and Colloquy
I have zero interest in any of those applications for some reason, except for maybe tweaking the themes and stuff.
Is there a good site that has pretty much everything that's been released that I can browse?
Get Pianist, Guitarist and Drummer. There the best things out.
Oh and get PocketTouch. It allows you to change songs, with a swipe of your finger.
I don't think there is, well, I've never heard of one. The installer.app where you get the applications from are categorized though so it's not too hard to try out things and uninstall them if you don't like them.Zitat:

You should check out this AbeZitat:

MobileChat
MobileFinder - twenty08.com/installer [The one on the ModMyiPhone repo is outdated.]
Poof
Tris
Cydia + Fake BSD Subsystem - apptapp.saurik.com
PocketTouch
MACalc
TouchPad Pro
Term-vt100
In no particular order. If I know the source and its not a community source, I put it next to the app name.
PS - Taskbar notifier works for emails too.
The only applicaation I have used is Summerboard and it's customization features. I also will probably use a new application I just installed that allows you to view PDF, Doc and other files on your device via the safari browser - that's very useful for me and it does an excellent job (tried a 50-page doc of notes for my class it loaded pretty quick and the formatting was good).Zitat:

My iTouch is absurdly laggy now. Its probably because all 16GB's are full. I might just go back to a official fw for now.
If i just restored, would it work? or do i have to uninstall anything off my ipod first?
You just have to restore, no need to uninstall anything to my knowledgeZitat:
Zitat von Vee
Yeah just do a restore but you will loose everything on your iPod, naturally.
Okay thanks guys, and we can JB from every fw now, right?
Yeah there have been videos of being able to run the 1.2.0 using pwnage but I'm no going to trust it to begin with. I just need to find a free wi-fi point so I can install the 1.1.3 apps on my iPod through installer (cheap I know but I'll live) as something isn't right. I need to check my WEP entering.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the zibri's blog icon? It's bugging the hell outta me.
just tap and hold for a few seconds all the icons will wiggle and the "x" comes up top left.....Tap that x and it will delete the icon.....
That doesn't work. It's an ipod not iphone. I don't think mine has the feature.
Depending on your firmware yoir iPod should be able to delete/move icons as I can. although I'm not sure if it will work with installed applicationsZitat:
Zitat von gmansixfo
It's 1.1.4 Jailbroken.
Opps forgot to say ou need the January Update pack aswell and need to be on 1.1.4..
I cant link you the files cus it illegal here(not that any mod would know) but I meet you online on aim...
Our mods are not that out of the loop..please give more respect. We generally know what is illegal and what is legal regardless of our knowledge in a specific field (iPod touch/iPhone)Zitat:

I could have linked the sources and you may have never know that those sources would have the copy righted files that apple charges users 20 bucks for...
The post could have gone something like this....(not using the real sources)
I friends with alot of mods here (Abe, Mike, Phil, HDD and others) and from what I know about them they will not see this..Zitat:
You need to add this to your sources
www.iaster.com/files/rep.xml
and install wiggle and the iphone pack
Plus correct me if I am wrong
