I was wondering, the iPod touch is currently retailing at $299 for the 8gb model. With the upcoming release of the new iPhone 3G at $199 (with contract of course), do any of you believe or know if their will be a price drop for the iPod touch anytime soon?
Highly doubt it. The reason the 3G is priced so low is because it comes with a two-year contract with ATT. I don't see the iPod Touch lowering in price anytime soonZitat:

My cousin bought an ipod touch today, and he was trying to downgrade to 1.1.1 but itunes said it couldn't read the update. Anyone know why ? I'm going to see him tomorrow, so i'll try it on my grandparents computer and see if it works. It could just be that he forgot to do something, but idk i haven't seen him yet. He is doing it on a mac, does that make a difference ?

Although some new news is that the 8gb iPhone 3G will eventually sell for $599 from ATT with no contract (so that's the "real" price for the 8gb iphone)
The 8GB iPhone 3G will be $199 for existing iPhone owners, new ATT customers, and ATT customers eligible for discounted phones. To anyone not eligible for a discounted phone, it'll be $399, and to get it without a contract it's $599. It's $100 more to get the 16GB, which is probably a better idea with all of the apps, especially games. Bioshock on the iPhone FTW (http://forums.qj.net/showthread.php?...light=Bioshock)! I was looking forward to counting down the iPhone 3G launch outside of the Apple Store (yeah, I'm a geek...), I'm not a big fan of it launching at 8am.

I just noticed, Myspace is unveiled their Mobile Myspace application. Its available via iTunes.
Its mad, in just a day, the App Store is fully running, jam packed with applications. At a reasonable price too, Sketches is £3.49. Not as expensive as i thought.
EDIT: I take that back. Super Money Ball is at £5.99. grr.. But there are alot of free applications. Its hard to buy when you know its going to get pirated. the only thing i'm liking is that this is Official. Official applications that are safe on your iPod. Not ones made by anyone joe or bob.
And you can freely install the update on an iTouch right from Apple's official servers ;)
I can't get 2.0 to install on my iPhone! I downloaded it (from itunes) and set it to install when finished, but when it finished downloading nothing happened and it said 1.1.4 is the current version...help?

is 2.0 free for the ipod touch or...? can i install it if i have a jailbroken ipod?
It's $10 to get it legally, there's a link floating around though which lets you download the file right from the Apple servers and it will apparently install simply by manually restoring it with iTunes. File takes forever to download though, their servers must be getting hammered.
I thought that was .ipsw file, thats iPhone only?

The iPod firmware is out now too kids. The iPhone link is the one floating around previously, I know that. The iTouch link was found this morning as soon as the initial update went live.

OMFG!!! I download 2.0, install it, and now my iPhone is at the place where I need to register it or whatever? (like you can only make emergency calls and it tells you to plug into iTunes) but when I plug it in it says that it timed out or something wtf?
