The free app called Shazam is awesome.
I'm thinking its the best app so far.
I wouldn't be suprised if they charge for it along the line.

Thanks for the feedback guys, hopefully the icons should be done soon.
Still gotta figure out how to edit the music player and all.
If anyone can tell me how to do that, much appreciated.
It should be there according to this:

or eh, i have it but its only for iphone... :/ i want a mic for my ipod
Touch v2 needs a camera and a mic fo sho.
Yeah, i was just about to get it then realised the iTouch has no mic.
Still, i do find those applications useless. As most of the time they dont work. Is this any different?
and i cant ****ing understand why apple cant get a radio into there players...
Last.fm is probably my fave app, it's awesome for finding new bands and great songs.
vlc4iphone, it allows me to stream my local radio station over the net using mms://
But you have to donate to zodttd to get the beta for 2.0
(A $5 donation is worth access to snes4iphone, vlc, etc before anyone else :D)
Ok I recently said that I have an app for the app store in the works, it is almost finished and want to know what people think of the initial look of it and what price they would pay for it, keep it in mind that I am not a very graphical person and would happily pay someone to do a much better job than what I have done, but that person must understand that it may take a while for the payment (hopefully no later than a week) as I need to buy the standard SDK with profits from this, I will hopefully be using someone else's SDK account with a share of the profits.
Anyway the Images:
Spoiler for Screenshots:
The iGuess section of the program is the bit that needs work on coding wise and all of it needs to be done UI wise.
I was thinking of asking for about £0.99 after seeing what else is on the app store, that is a load of crap. But I might do £0.59 - £0.99 depending on what people think and maybe even a reduced price for the first 2 weeks or something I just want to know what people think.
So all you do is guess a number, and it guesses yours? I'd say about £0.99. Nice to have an app store dev here tho.
There's no chance in hell that I would buy something like that. It seems pretty pointless and pointless apps should be free.
As for it's presentation, the gray text doesn't go very well, the question mark is cut off on the top of the screen, and the overall color scheme should be changed IMO.
You find what applications useless? Shazam? It is very useful too me....i have it open while i drive and when a song on the radio comes on i want i just tap the button and it detects the songs when i dont know the name or artist.
And it has never falsely detected a song since i've used it....Its very reliable and works really well...it even detects most of the iranian songs i've tried :D
Yeah, my Shazam is batting close to 1.000 at the moment. The only thing it couldn't detect was a live Phish song someone was playing through a youtube video at work.
Yea, Shazam can only detect "album" recordings. To detect live **** use the Midomi "sing" feature.
To begin with it is not a pointless app, a pointless app is I am rich. This is aimed to be one of those games that you would have a quick go on whilst waiting for the train etc. I say £0.99 as I am trying to raise funds to develop better apps, but being 15 and earning a reasonable £25 doesn't help too much, but rather than moan and say "Give me money, I'm poor, moan, moan, moan." I am actually working on something to earn the money, plus it gives me a great start in Objective-C which is a big step considering I have just got my head around command line C++. I know it isn't the best but I have seen worse, e.g. a soundboard app of different vehicle sounds going for £0.59 so it is pretty good in some circumstances.
I know the presentation is bad, if you read my post I will be changing it after a little more coding has been put in place to make the app smarter than it is at the moment as it is not fun. I have already said that I will gladly take offers for art and will pay for the art as long as the artist understands that the payment could be delayed depending on intake of the app.
Regardless of what you think a lot of applications and games out there are free and are above in gameplay and quality than the application you have created. Go ahead and charge for it but do not expect anyone to buy it just because they buy other applications. Every single $1 spent is important to most people and if they can get your app for free they will (that is if they want it). The reason I'm bringing this up is because what you have created can easily be replicated in an HTML browser (such as what the iPhone/iPodT has) and for free.
You sound like you will make money off of this application even by charging so little for it - however you have to be practical and think of how many people will buy it (a very small amount), probably not even enough to buy you a nice dinner.
I don't mean to shoot down your hard work, but if you release a few free games first and then move on to selling better games you will earn more respect and may even earn a following at that point.
I THINK
you should just ask for donations, so that people who enjoy your app will support you, and then your name will get out and will bring you more supporters...
anyway, you can most def list that game at what ever price you want, but just like everyone else, i VERY HIGHLY DOUBT it will sell once...
How will raising funds help you develop better?
Ive seen some great developers who dont really need money to develop good things.
Well i mean he doesnt need to get money from them to figure out if they like it or not.
And if the apps worth it, then yeah why not.
-=Double Post Merge =-
Well i mean, donations aren't bad if the developer really has talent, and like i said, if the app is something thats worth it [For example Shazam], then hell yeah i'd pay money for it.
i need an opinion... im thinking of selling some of my old **** to get an iPhone 3G.
but as im not on a contract at the moment getting this is gona be a slight strain on my budget, is the iPhone 3G all its cracked up to be?
Who do you have a contract with?
I personally just bought a 1st gen iPhone and use it with tmobile since its so much cheaper to use it on tmobile and i can get the data plan for only $5.99 extra. There is really no difference with the 3g except it may be a little faster when using data and has turn by turn gps...Google maps on the iphone does just as good IMO. We even got lost tonight and it helped us out
thats the thing i dont at the moment... and in the UK were limited to only getting the iPhones in o2 and the minimum contract is for £30 \:
my ipod touch died! D:
it wouldnt turn on so i have sendt it to apple for service. i wish we had apple stores here in sweden so i could get it replaced at once... :(
...but.... oh god...
...i had the official firmware installed.... but i used a jailbroken app before i upgraded to the new official firmware where you can change the "iPod" text in the upper left corner... and the text "iMad" was still there when i upgraded to the official firmware...! 0.o
i hope they wont notice that... wouldnt that brake the waranty? if they find out i have had it jailbroken? i dont want to pay anything extra!
Oh, that is bad, you could always make a white lie and say that you brought it on ebay like that. Whilst the warranty states that everything is now yours, just act like a user that just uses it for music and apps, thats how I got my PSP replaced 3 times, make up something like you noticed it but didn't want to say anything as you were worried it would void the warranty, but now you have to send it back. Although I found that restoring it with a no backup does the trick however I do not know if it is possible for you to do that.
Also thanks for the feedback and sorry for the rant last night, I was kinda tired, but I do understand it is a crap app and that I am moaning about needing the money, but I do see this as an opportunity to show how basic an app can be and how it can be made to others that may want to do the same. Anyway I was thinking of putting it up for free with a notice that after a week or so I would charge, whilst this seems bad people may leave good reviews and whilst a price change may be a bad part, I could ask for somewhere between £0.29 and £0.59, I am in no rush to make the big bucks however I don't want to see the hosting developer seem bad or myself.
This probably sounds bad, but then I see myself as finding a way to make money without complaining too much.
I want the iphone 3G but its too expensive on contract, i wonder how much it costs on pay as you go.
Who is the GSM provider in your area?
