I'm considering buying a new laptop soon and immediately Alienware became one of my brands to look at (as you'll see further down) but if for some reason you think Alienware isn't the way to go please tell me with a legit reason. I really would like to be able to play some higher-end games, CS:S, HL2 (and Garry's Mod), some of the GTA series as well as a few others (all of them with decently high settings). The computer I currently use is around 3 years old with 1.80GHz, 256 RAM, and a GeForce 3 Ti200 and it can play most of those with a sketchy ~30FPS; so I'm pretty sure a new laptop should be able to handle them easy. I do have a better one at 3.4GHz, but don't ask why I'm not using it.
My limit right now is around $1,200-1,500 and the two laptops I'm looking at are the Alienware Area 51 m5550 and the Area 51 m5750. My cousin recently bought the m5750 and I thought it was quite impressive, I watched him play WoW with full settings wirelessly without any lag or glitching.
The only real difference between the two is that the second one has a 17" screen versus 15.4", and it has an ATI Mobility Radeon X1800 instead of a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600, although the front page states that their the same. However if I got the one I would be upgrading the CPU to 2.00GHz instead of the stock 1.66GHz, but since it's a $250 add-on I can only do it if I get the first one.
Thanks for reading, I hope someone will have a good opinion as to what the differences are or something I could better spend my money towards. And if you don't have something nice to say please don't say it at all. :)
